Gene V. Levinstein, M.D. is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of
patients with pain of spinal origin, occupational and sports related injuries,
joint, nerve and musculoskeletal ailments.
Dr. Levinstein is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Specializing in Interventional Spine Care, he is skilled in neuromuscular-skeletal
rehabilitation and minimally invasive non-surgical spinal treatments.
He performs interventional diagnostic testing, such as discography, selective
nerve root blocks and electrodiagnostic testing. He is versed in the use
of injection therapy, including fluoroscopically guided spinal/epidural
injections, facet and medial branch blocks, peripheral joint injections,
trigger point injections and minimally invasive spinal interventions.
These interventions include techniques such as vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty
for traumatic or osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, radiofrequency
dorsal rhizotomy for facet arthritis, epidural injections for spinal stenosis
and radiculopathy and spinal cord stimulator placement for failed back/post-laminectomy
syndrome. He specializes in minimally invasive non-surgical treatments
such as IDET, PERC-D and Accutherm for lumbar disc degeneration and herniation.
After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Levinstein held a Medical Internship
at Graduate Hospital and a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Following the completion
of residency in 2005, Dr. Levinstein continued his sub-specialty training
with a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Pain Management at Performance
Spine and Sports Physicians, P.C. in Pottstown, PA.
Dr. Levinstein is an active lecturer and physician educator speaking both
locally and nationally on the topics of minimally invasive spinal interventions,
injections, and rehabilitative spine care. He is also fluent in Russian
and Ukrainian.
Dr. Levinstein is an active member of numerous professional organizations
including, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational
Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation,
the North American Spine Society, and the International Spinal Injection
Society.
